Berlin’s party zones

B_Szene_C_40-Seconds.610-16040 Seconds

Berlin’s nightlife is legendary, colorful and multifaceted. Some new clubs catch the spotlight of the world while others disappear just as quickly. Many places also offer young up-and-coming bands a stage for possible stardom. For example, the Berlin punk band “Die Ärzte” had its first gigs in the SO 36 club in Kreuzberg, which remains a popular party address to this day. The greatest club density can be found in the districts of Mitte, Prenzlauer Berg, Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain. Things often get started here in the early evening at an after-work party, such as in the noble Adagio (Mitte) or in the loungelike Reingold (Mitte).

For night owls, the gates open at 10 PM. Depending on what you like, you can dance and flirt in a chic atmosphere, such as in 90 Grad (Tiergarten), Soda Club (Prenzlauer Berg) or 40 Seconds (Tiergarten). By the way, this last club gets its name from the time that it takes for the elevator to reach the penthouse club on the eighth floor. And the ride is worth it: you get an unbeatable 360° view of Berlin at night from the three roof terraces. The scenery that club goers can see from the Watergate’s dance floor on the banks of the Spree in Kreuzberg is at least as imposing.

Not far away, there is even a floating club: the Hoppetosse club and restaurant ship in Treptow, which is generally frequented by an alternative crowd. Many other popular clubs, such as the Junction Keller Bar in Kreuzberg and the Geburtstagsklub in Prenzlauer Berg, with its fairytale-based furnishings, are currently attracting the Berlin scene. You can get a good overview of them during the annual “Berliner Clubnacht” (Berlin Club Night), in which about 30 clubs with a wide variety of music tastes participate.
