Nymphenburg is one of Munich’s greenest and most elegant districts. At its heart lies the magnificent Nymphenburg Palace, surrounded by an extensive park that remains one of Germany’s most beautiful historic gardens more than 300 years after its creation. Lakes, canals, historic pavilions and shaded pathways invite visitors to enjoy long and relaxing walks. In the southern part of the district lies Hirschgarten, Munich’s largest beer garden with around 8,000 seats. The adjoining deer enclosure makes it particularly popular with families. Every summer, the traditional Magdalenenfest, one of Munich’s oldest folk festivals, is also held here.
