Thanks to its historic trading relationships, Hamburg is a metropolis for shopping fans from around the world. Elegant shpping streets and typical Hamburg passages in the inner city invite you to part with your money. As soon as you have left the main station by the North exit, you´ll find yourself in the main shopping area of Hamburg. The Spitalerstraße has everything from Hennes & Mauritz to haute couture. At the end of the street, you´ll find Mönckebergstraße, Hamburg´s main shopping mile, which has a varied selection of shops and cafés where business is always brisk.

If you walk from the "Mö" – as the Hamburg people call the Mönckebergstraße – to the Rathausmarkt, you reach Neustadt. Here you can find Hamburg´s designer street at the Neuer Wall. Armani, Joop and Jil Sander, jewelry by Bulgari and Cartier – these and many other international names in fashion have a presence here. Hamburg´s most famous shopping arcade, the Hanse-Viertel, is nearby on Poststraße. It has 60 boutiques and special stores. Just like in the Hanse-Viertel, many other passages connect the streets to each other and turn the city center into one giant shopping maze. If you go down the Gänsemarkt-Passage, you will reach the Gänsemarkt.
