Hamburg´s buffet of rooms is richly laid out, with more than 41,500 beds in 305 accommodation facilities in every category. You´ll find what you´re looking for in the city whether it´s a youth hostel bed, a bed-and-breakfast room or a luxury suite in a prestigious hotel. With the amount of overnight accommodation on offer constantly rising, the hospitality industry is talking of a real "bed boom".
The Hanseatic city is one of Germany´s most popular destinations. In 2008, it had a new visitor record for the seventh year in succession with 7.7 million overnight stays, up by 4.4 percent from the previous year. New hotels open every year to meet the rising demand. In 2009, these included the chic Radisson Blu Hotel at the airport and two new hotels owned by the ultra-modern Amedia chain. Among the long-established and famous Hamburg hotels are the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, which has been open for more than 100 years in a beautiful location on Binnenalster (Inner Alster Lake) as well as the 200-year-old Louis C. Jakob hotel on the Elbchaussee boulevard. The newest member of this elite club of Hamburg hotels that are 100 years old or more is the Atlantic Kempinski, which celebrated its centenary in May 2009.
