All kinds of hotels in Berlin |
|
© tunart | iStockphotoThe number of visitors to Berlin from Germany and abroad increases every year and in 2010 the German capital celebrated a historic record number of over 20 million overnight stays. The consequence of this flood of visitors is a massive boom in hotels, which now amount to 750 places to stay with 113,500 beds, with an end nowhere in sight. New hotels are especially mushrooming up in areas such as Alexanderplatz and the new Berlin Brandenburg International Airport (BBI). At the same time, the cost of an overnight stay is still relatively reasonable, compared with the rest of Germany or even internationally.
The number of rooms in the higher price category has grown more than any other. Berlin offers a wide selection of more than 120 four- and five-star hotels, all of which promise guests luxury service and an especially comfortable stay. Visitors can choose from classic, long-established hotels such as the Adlon, which is more than 100 years old, or the Schlosshotel in Grunewald or try out one of the new luxury hotels such as H10 at Ku’damm or the trendy Soho House. Below the four-star category, Berlin has some catching up to do, which is why companies such as the budget chain Motel One and Meininger are opening up new hotels.
