Tip of the week: karaoke in the park |
Open-air singing in the Mauerpark People flock to the Mauerpark in Berlin's center at weekends, and not just for the huge flea market. Bearpit Karaoke has taken place in a park amphitheater since 2009 from 3 pm to 8 pm. Participants include punks who dedicate their performances to dead polar bears from Berlin's zoo or little girls who pluck up the courage to go on stage or wannabe stars who want to test their skills in public. All this makes for an entertaining Sunday afternoon. ›› More events in Berlin

Berlin's Currywurst Museum In this unusual museum, visitors learn all about the German capital's culinary emblem, the Currywurst (sausage with curry sauce). Herta Heuwer's experimental kitchen gives a flavor of life in the 1940s when the Chill-up curry sauce was invented to accompany sausages. Amid oversized ketchup drops and gigantic fries, visitors can check out the perfect ingredients for curry sauce. The museum also has fascinating information on fast food from 5,000 years ago and on the bit parts that Currywurst has played in movies and television shows. Included in the admission fee is a portion of Currywurst in the cup. A fun place for young and old! ›› More museums in Berlin
