| Munich’s first Auer Dult market of 2011 |
Mariahilfplatz, Auer DultTraditional market at Mariahilfplatz from April 30-May 5 2011Strolling, shopping and enjoying good food – the traditional Maidult market in the Munich city district of Au is a great place to do all that. The three annual Auer Dults – Maidult, the Jakobidult in summer time (July 30-August 7 2011) and Kirchweihdult after Oktoberfest (October 15-23 2011) – are an insiders´ tip for lovers of traditional markets. Each lasts for nine days. This market for household goods is possibly the largest of its kind in Europe. Hearty meals ranging from grilled fish to cheese specialties and sweet treats such as apple cakes attract foodies. There are nostalgic fairground rides for kids and the young at heart. And on the special day for children, each Tuesday during Dult, the little ones pay less. There are about 290 stalls. You'll find lots of wonderful things if you take time to stroll around the market, including traditional costumes, woollen blankets, spelt pillows, wicker baskets, as well as stain removers and window wipers. Visitors can eat and drink at the food stalls, in the sunny Dult beer garden or in the cozy Dult coffee bar. The market is open daily from 10 am to 8 pm and the fairground rides run from 10.30 am to 8 pm. ›› More events in Munich |
